Morwenna holiday cottage: the newest self catering property at Polmanter

The time has come to finally unveil our beautiful new self catering accommodation – Morwenna cottage!
Thank you to all our Facebook fans who helped name the property, after running a poll to determine which Cornish female name would go alongside apartments Kerenza and Demelza. Now the holiday cottage has an identity, we can’t wait to share this former chapel conversion with you, after what has been an interesting journey to get the property completed and ready for guests. Here’s the story of Morwenna…
Winter project
As many of you know, even though we’re a seasonal touring site we don’t put our tools down and hibernate over winter – we do the exact opposite! Winter 2019 was no different after we purchased the cottage at the entrance to the site earlier in the year, and the team couldn’t wait to get started. We already have two self catering apartments but were keen to expand our portfolio of self catered accommodation so that more families can enjoy what we have to offer here at Polmanter.
The property was stripped right back to bricks and mortar, with walls knocked down and the staircase removed to reconfigure the cottage into a more welcoming open-plan living space for families to enjoy together.
COVID hits!
No-one could have anticipated COVID and it’s fair to say a global pandemic definitely slowed our timeline down, with delays on all sorts of deliveries. It was disappointing to have to stop works altogether when lockdown was imposed, but as soon as it was safe to do so, the team were back in doing what they could under the circumstances and not before long, we were ready to add the finishing touches. Many of our guests comment on how they love the modern, stylish décor of our apartments – well, Morwenna has had the same treatment!
Let’s launch – a walk through The Cottage
August 2020 arrives and we’re finally ready to launch. What a mixture of relief and excitement as we can officially reveal everything Morwenna has to offer.
Let us walk you through…
As you arrive at the property, you can park up on a spacious private driveway suitable for up to 2 cars. As a business that considers its sustainability and now owners of an electric car ourselves, we decided to install a 7kW destination charging socket – which is currently a rarity at holiday lets in St Ives! On the driveway, you’ll also find a shed to store surfboards, bikes, suitcases etc – a practical feature for our adventurous guests.
Make your way through the landscaped garden, with a 6-person hot tub to reach the patio doors of the kitchen to enter the cottage. Step into an open-plan kitchen, living and dining room all on the first floor. The modern kitchen with navy tones is filled with all the essentials you’ll need to cater for your group. Take the weight off your feet and relax into the comfy sofas in the living room, equipped with a 42” smart TV and Alexa speaker, and enjoy some well needed down time.
You’ll need plenty of rest for those busy days at the beach, exploring the coastline and visiting Cornwall’s iconic towns so head upstairs for a good night’s sleep in one of the two en-suite bedrooms.
Bedroom one is more spacious out of the two, with a luxurious kingsize Hypnos pillow-top mattress, along with a sofa bed that can be made into two additional single beds. The en-suite features a roll top bath, lit by its own chandelier along with a shower and motion sensor low level lighting for those late-night trips to the bathroom! Draw open the curtains to make the most of the stunning countryside views through the big, beautiful arch windows.
Just as cosy and luxurious is bedroom two, again with a kingsize Hypnos pillow-top mattress and arch windows, with views this time of the charming garden. A perfectly sized en-suite is fitted with a shower and heated towel rail with an elegant finish.
Both bedrooms have smart TV and Alexa speakers, and each en-suite has a Bluetooth ceiling speaker so you can connect and stream your own music while you get ready for your day/night out!
An extra treat
Did we mention there was a hot tub?!? I think we did, but let’s just come back to that. Your very own hot tub in the garden can be enjoyed by all 6 guests. Relax in the warm, bubbling water day or night with a glass of fizz or chilled beer and toast to your Cornish holiday.
Dog-friendly
As with the apartments, we are welcoming up to 2 well-behaved dogs to Morwenna, at an additional cost of £35 each, per week. It’s never the same holidaying without your four-legged family member, so bring them with you and enjoy a dog-friendly holiday in St Ives.
So when are you coming to stay?
Morwenna is the perfect Cornish getaway for up to 6 people or 5 plus an infant in a cot.
Bookings are being taken now for 2020 and 2021. Join us for full weeks, arriving/departing on a Saturday from April until the end of October and short breaks from November – March, with changeover days switching to Monday and Fridays.
We’re also offering a Christmas and New Year break. Enjoy your festive family celebration in Morwenna from Sunday 20th – Sunday 27th December or see in 2021 with a stay from Sunday 27th December – Sunday 3rd January.
