Introducing our new reception, shop and apartments!
19th June 2018
We never like to stand still at Polmanter!
Its been our biggest challenge yet, but we’re so excited to be able to share our new reception and shop space, and introduce our new luxury self-catered apartments.
Reception and Shop
We’ve been itching for a few years to bring this space up to the same standards as the rest of the park, and get a bit more of a stylish touch to the space – I hope that you’ll agree when you next visit us, that we’ve really added the Wow factor!
Many of you fed back to us that it would be great to be able to pop to the shop in the evening, or in the low season, so we’ve linked the reception and shop areas, enabling our reception staff to serve the shop at quieter periods, so we’re delighted we can now offer the shop service right from the start of the season, and for longer hours each day.
There’s no longer a ramp to access the shop, and we have an automatic main entrance door and lowered section in the reception counter to make the space more welcoming to our younger visitors and those with mobility issues.
We’ve taken the opportunity to completely review our stock, and to hunt out even more local Cornish suppliers, so that we can keep our food miles as low as possible, and introduce you to local superstars such as Trink Dairy, St Ives Gin, and many more.
We’ve also enjoyed working with Jo Downs glass, who’ve produced several of the beautiful Cornwall and South West Tourism Awards we’ve received in recent years, and have made us a fabulous panel of our logo for the reception wall.
Apartments @ Polmanter
Redeveloping the reception and shop building from scratch meant that we were able to think big, and so as well as being able to incorporate our fabulous oak-framed reception area, we also decided to create our first self-catering accommodation!
We’re often asked by guests if we have accommodation that friends and family who don’t camp could use, and also whether you can stay at Polmanter year-round, and now you can!!
Each apartment has 2 bedrooms, and both ‘Kerenza’ and ‘Demelza’ can accommodate up to 4 people and an infant in a cot.
We also welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs per apartment, and Demelza has been designed with accessibility in mind, including an adapted bathroom, for guests with additional mobility needs.

A Grand Opening
It was great to host Derek Thomas MP and St Ives Mayor Suzanne Tanner for a ‘grand opening’ last week, and get the opportunity to celebrate with the local companies that helped us to bring our vision to reality, including Carpenter Oak Cornwall, St Ives based Symons Construction and Hortus Design and Landscaping, and Koha Architects from Falmouth.
It was great to get 3 generations of our family together to mark this occasion, and we also enjoyed celebrating with loyal guests who’ve been staying with us for over 40 years, and were treated to refreshments from Little Home Bakery, Lelant, who help stock our shop with delicious cakes, Cornish fizz from Camel Valley Winery, and juices from nearby Polgoon.
